Dr. Waye retired from active practice at Mount Sinai Hospital after a remarkable career that began in 1963. As Professor Emeritus of Medicine and Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, he developed foundational techniques in colonoscopy and helped shape the field through more than 200 published papers and seven books, including the award-winning Colonoscopy: Principles and Practice.

His leadership spans decades, having served as president of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the World Endoscopy Organization. Today, he continues to make a global impact by training endoscopists in Uganda through a pioneering virtual program - the first of its kind to teach endoscopy remotely.
