ReVanced vs Morphe: The Hidden War That Could End Them Both Forever | THE FALL OF REVANCED
A few weeks ago, the ReVanced repository on GitHub disappeared.
It wasn't an action by Google.
It wasn't an action by YouTube.
It was reported by... another open-source project.
A project called Morphe. And the reason was a DMCA takedown.
Basically, a legal claim for using code without the proper authorization.
Wait. A fork copying another fork? The tool that exists to customize the Google experience... violating another application's policies?
Yes. That happened. And there's much more to it than that.
Because Morphe isn't just any project that appeared out of nowhere to affect ReVanced. Morphe is the result of what happens when the ReVanced developers themselves distance themselves from the original project... and decide to build something different.
This is the story of how a group of developers created their own alternative and are having an unprecedented conflict on GitHub. A conflict where, if things get complicated, the only ones who will suffer are us, the users.
