wuauclt.exe is a background process which checks for windows updates . It can be seen in the Task Manager's processes when it is waiting for permission to download an update. The legitimate location of this file is in C:\Windows\System32 folder. Hundreds of viruses use this name to create viruses in different folders in windows.
