Is the most popular budget Amazon hatchet worth the money? Just in the past month alone this hatchet was sold over 3,000 times on Amazon. With quite a few descent reviews, does the price drive the quality here? When I saw the Kseibi hatchet at $15 with so many hatchets being bought, I knew I needed to get this and test it out for myself. This hatchet has a basic hatchet length and weight however it is slightly different with a fiberglass handle and rubber grip. Will the fiberglass handle work? How durable is it? Does the rubber grips give a good feel in the hand and how durable is the rubber? I tested the bit to see how soft this steel is and how well it holds its edge. Honest thoughts: It is not bad for $15 however I feel for just a little more, you can get a far superior hatchet that would work better. This hatchet has soft steel so edge rollover, chips and a dull bit is something you will experience pretty fast and often. The fiberglass handle is clunky in the hand and right out of the box I noticed how oddly shaped this handle was. I wouldn’t want to use this for axe throwing but I also wouldn’t want to use this for any axe work. It seems durable with its fiberglass handle which has been attached to the axe head with epoxy. The bit length is good coming in at 4 inches in length. The weight is more evenly distributed and the hatchet wants to wobble in the air when thrown for distance. Overall I would avoid this hatchet. For not much more you can purchase a better hatchet with far more quality and versatility. The Kseibi hatchet is a $15 hatchet. And it performs that way. You get what you pay for with this one!
