Prototype 2 is an action game, a sequel to the third-person sci-fi action game Prototype. Prototype 2 takes place 14 months after the events of the first episode. New York City is still suffering from the Blacklight virus, which transforms the infected into terrifying mutants. The man (or rather, no longer a man) who started this whole nightmare, Alex Mercer, has acquired terrifyingly powerful abilities. He poses a constant threat to both residents and members of the Blackwatch organization, whose special forces enforce order in New York with an iron fist.
