Brief History of Hawaii
Here I briefly discuss the colonization and unification of Hawai'i using the art of the great Herb Kaulainui Kane. This is a very quick (and highly selective version) of recent Hawaiian history related to colonization and the creation of modern Hawai'i from the perspective of coastal management.
Given our work in the Cook Islands, I pay a good deal of attention to Captain Cook's role in the history of Hawai'i.
I also touch on coastal access to tidelands in Hawai'i via the Law of the Broken (Splintered) Paddle and Kamehameha III's establishment of coastal access for all.
