If you want to add some rich text to the WordPress sidebar you’re going to need a plugin - and my favorite is the "Black Studio TinyMCE Widget” plugin - it gives you the full TinyMCE text editor as a widget right in your sidebar and is great for adding pretty much anything - add rich text, images, videos and short code to your sidebar easily.
