These things are KEY to good sleep in the early weeks 😴 👇🏼
1. Address potential feeding issues. For many, if not most, babies, feeding and sleep are deeply intertwined. Good sleep won’t happen without good feeds, and vice versa. We can largely influence sleep by being sure baby is eating well, especially during the day,, and we can often resolve sleep problems by first looking for feeding problems and addressing them!
2. Consistent morning wake up time! A consistent wake up time (within 20 minutes or so) is a great place to start when looking to make changes and help the whole family’s circadian clock align with each other. Establishing a consistent wake-up time in the morning can help your baby’s body clock to get started and the rest of the day will follow.
3. Figuring out ideal nap lengths. Appropriate naps are another key to good nighttime sleep. Getting the balance of daytime sleep and nighttime sleep can be tricky. We want baby to be well rested during the day so that they don’t become overly tired, leading to worse nights.
