In this video, I showcase a custom lock-on system in Unreal Engine 5 🛠️. It locks the camera and player movement onto visible enemies, prevents locking through walls, and allows smooth target switching based on camera direction rather than player position.
The lock-on indicator dynamically reacts to distance, changing size as you move closer or farther from the target. If you leave the allowed range, the system automatically disengages and returns to normal movement.
This creates a more intuitive and immersive combat experience, especially for third-person action games and souls-like mechanics.
