Still to this day, Porsche has the most wins at Le Mans with 19 overall victories, including 7 winstreak from 1981-1987, 107 class victories, most podiums, most podium lockouts, most 1-2 finishes, & most fastest laps. Closely followed by Audi and Ferrari, this makes Porsche the most successful manufacturer at Le Mans. The most successful team at Le Mans being Joest Racing which is a German racing team associated with Porsche until the late 90's when they went to Audi (owned by Ferdinand Piech at the time, grandson of Ferdinand Porsche).
24 Hours of Le Mans is the oldest active race in endurance racing, held annually since 1923 near the town of Le Mans, France. Nicknamed the "Grand Prix of Endurance and Efficiency", it's one of the three most prestigious races in the world, the other being Indy 500 and Monaco Grand Prix. Unlike most races which are fixed-distance races whose winner is determined by minimum time, the 24 Hours of Le Mans is won by the car that covers the most distance in 24 hours.
