VICTON made a surprise comeback gift for Alices last week with 'Mayday'! I expressed my thoughts on it in a previous community post, so I'll be brief about it. 'Though I liked Mayday', it is probably my least favorite song from them. The vibes they went for don't really suit my tastes, but I was impressed by the verses and the bridge (the vocals and the raps were awesome). But, I was a bit disappointed by the chorus since it's the same line being repeated 4-8 times. So, this comeback is a reminder to me that I can still support fully an artist without being hyped for all of their songs. Nevertheless, I am glad that 'Mayday' seems to have attracted more international fans and I really hope they get more recognition cuz they deserve all the love!!!
So, thinking about what mashup to do with 'Mayday', I thought of another mashup I was working on in April, but that I didn't finish. I was working on a mashup with VICTON's 'Nightmare' and DREAMCATCHER's 'Silent Night' since both are dark songs and has 'night' in their title (also I really wanted to do a mashup with 'Silent Night' since the day I listened to it cuz this song is a freaking bop!). So, I just added 'Mayday' to the mix since I did feel a similar vibe to 'Nightmare'. My main problem was how big the gap between the keys of each song were... Also, there's some bpm problems since 'Silent Night's bpm is quite different from 'Mayday' and 'Nightmare' and it also changes tempo at the end. But, I felt inspired while doing this mashup and thought all those problems didn't sound too bad to me (well I hope for you too lol). But, it's really weird, how I had a lot of fun working on this mashup despite not liking 'Mayday' as much as VICTON's past songs lol. Also, I was a bit more inspired for the video since both groups now have this dark aura in their MVs lol, but I don't have a clear plotline either as usual lol (but if you want to drop some theories, feel free to do so!) Anyway, I really hope you enjoy this mashup! :D
