In the Ben 10 universe, the most striking feature is the aliens, beings from other worlds with multiple characteristics and abilities.
These aliens are found in the Omnitrix, a device that at the beginning of the series contained 10 aliens.
But as the series progressed, the Omnitrix acquired more aliens.
There were two ways to acquire them: the first was to unlock the alien using a series of commands.
The second was by scanning the alien DNA. This is one of the multiple functions of the Omnitrix.
If an alien leaves a trace of its essence in the Omnitrix (a touch with the Omnitrix),
this allows the DNA to be scanned and added to the active list of aliens that the Omnitrix user possesses.
There's also a more modern scanning option with the recalibrated Omnitrix, which is the same process but with a light. In this way, the Omnitrix user could unlock many alien species.
