How to Quickly Target Any Layer in Photoshop or Elements

Hi, I'm Vicki Robinson. If you work with Photoshop files — PSD or TIFs — that have lots and lots of layers, as most digital scrapbook pages do, I'm sure you've experienced difficulty finding a specific layer you want to work on. I've got a really cool tip for you that works in both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.
As you can see my file has lots and lots of layers. Now here's my tip: hover your mouse anywhere on your document and then right-click.
The pop-up contextual menu displays a list of all of the layers Photoshop or Elements can detect below your cursor. Select one and notice that in the Layers Panel that layer has now been targeted. You can now edit that layer or hit Ctrl/Cmd T to resize or move it. If you are not in the habit of naming your layers as you work, this might convince you to do so in the future. It makes finding your layers so much easier.
If the layer you are trying to isolate has very few or low-opacity pixels such as a stamp or other brushwork, it might be hard for Photoshop to detect it. The solution to that is to zoom in very close and then right-click.
