De Havilland built their first prototype of a jet-powered airliner in 1949, named the DH 106 Comet. Developed and manufactured by de Havilland at its Hatfield Aerodrome in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Sadly several Comets crashed due to cracks in the airframe that appeared around their squared passenger windows, which couldn't withstand the forces of the cabin pressure.
