The memorial podcast "Mourning & Sneakers" is live at the Leipzig Book Fair: At the Open Society Forum, Hadija Haruna-Oelker and Max Czollek speak with journalist Vanessa Vu about the current demonstrations against the far right, their impact, and their consequences. They reflect on how, despite the understandable feeling that anything that helps right now is also good, a critical perspective on the situation shouldn't be lost. They ask: Who are the protesters? Where are marginalized groups, and how do they feel? And why have the largest protests since 1989 so far barely translated into political action? The conversation with Vanessa Vu will also address the role of the media and what reporting can achieve or damage. But above all: Which stories should be told now, and which practices should be implemented?
