In the early part of the video where I'm telling the common Jewish version of the narrative, I say that Hadrian renamed Judea to Palestine as an insult to the Jews. While this is the common version of the narrative, it's not actually true; the region had been known as "Palestine" at least back to the Macedonian period. Whether this is actually a reference to the Philistines (who essentially ceased to exist as an ethnic group following the Babylonian conquest), a literal translation of the word "Israel" (which has a similar etymology), or has some other origin is a matter of debate.
