You only get paid when you reach a block. The chances are extremely small that you will succeed, but if you do, you will get the total reward. At this moment the reward is 6,25 bitcoin until the halving somewhere in the spring of 2024.
While the chances are extremely small it is still fun to have a small microcontroller which is mining Bitcoin. The project takes you to the proces of making your device ready to mine as a Nerdminer and register it on a solo mining pool.
