I'm honestly still quite in shock, and maybe I read more into the comment than I should but it's not like it was the first time I received that kind of response in life, so maybe setting things straight is important regardless.
Knitting is neither a male nor a female hobby. As it's a considerably "young" craft, neither world religion says anything about it. And if you were to look closer, then crafting is typically considered a male domain in most scriptures anyway.
But more to the point, equality has to run both ways - as long as parts of our society are prohibited from doing something, they automatically will become something else we do not entirely agree with either.
Also, knitting is a hobby. Issuing death threads in that context is quite ridiculous - especially as killing in general is not a very Christian thing anyway.
