Easy Does it on Dry Skin
Let me start by saying that the Tata Harper Superkind Refining Cleanser is best utilized in the morning. This is an exfoliating cleanser and needs to be applied to dry skin. You don’t want to use this to remove makeup or sunscreen at night. I did try it as a standalone cleanser in the evening, but my skin still felt like I was wearing sunscreen, so I had to use a foaming cleanser afterwards to get my skin completely clean.
That said, I’m a little surprised by the gritty texture of this cleanser. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all for exfoliation, but as a Retin A user, this cleanser’s texture can be problematic if you rub too hard. I decided to use it three times a week, making sure I hadn’t used Retin A the night before. I think the rice powder could be a little finer and would still do its job. I like rice as an ingredient, but the powder in this cleanser was more harsh than I’m used to experiencing with my usual SRB powder cleanser.
Rubbing this into the skin is a satisfying experience, just be gentle and make small circles. It allowed me to skip my chemical exfoliant and also made my skin baby soft.
Closing Thought: At $88, this is one of the most expensive cleansers I’ve ever used. The price point is considerably higher than I’m comfortable with paying, even though the cleanser does double-duty. Nothing wrong with this product whatsoever, if it’s in your budget. 4 stars.
