What is the Ismi Azam Prayer? Its Recitation, Meaning, and Virtues
The Ismi Azam prayer is referred to as the "Greatest Name" among the names of Allah Almighty. Many great scholars state that this prayer should be recited.
In fact, scholars have interpreted that if the Ismi Azam prayer is recited 111 times within 24 hours, that prayer will come true within the same day. Of course, the Quran does not contain such information. Scholars have stated that no prayer can be rejected and that this prayer will be accepted by Allah.
Now, let's address the questions about the Ismi Azam prayer… Many people are curious about "How should the Ismi Azam prayer be recited?" and "What are the virtues of the Ismi Azam prayer?" In this article, we will answer these questions and provide the Arabic and Turkish spellings, as well as its Turkish meaning.
How to Pray the Ismi Azam (The Greatest Name)?
One of the most frequently asked questions about the Ismi Azam (The Greatest Name) prayer is how to perform it, or how to recite it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“I swear by Allah, in Whose power is my soul, that Allah answers the prayer made with His Greatest Name, the Greatest Name, and grants what is requested.”
When reciting the Ismi Azam prayer, five names from the Asmaul Husna (the Divine Names) of Allah are used, and these names are:
Fard, Hay, Qayyum, Hakem, Adl, Quddus
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi said the following about the prayer:
"Each of these names is either the Greatest Name, or the light emanating from all six is the Greatest Name."
These five names are used in the Greatest Name prayer, and Surah Fatiha, Surah Ikhlas, and Ayat al-Kursi are also recited. Afterward, ablution should be performed to cleanse the body and soul. After ablution, one should face the qibla, make the intention, and recite Surah Fatiha three times, Surah Ikhlas three times, and Ayat al-Kursi once.
