Landing in Fort Myers FL on RWY 24 after a relaxing flight south from Detroit MI. Construction of the Midfield Terminal expansion is well underway, with the addition of a new consolidated security checkpoint in the works, as well as another jetway for Concourse D & the addition of Concourse E both on the horizon. This airport and region as a whole have become exponentially busier, paving the way for the terminal to expand accordingly. I’ve been eager to see the developments in the airport master plan for quite some time. It has been nearly 3 years since the last time I was at RSW—my longest gap in visits to this airport since I was born. The whole of the Fort Myers & Naples area has felt like a home away from home for the majority of my life, so it was certainly very special being back at RSW after all this time. I was also glad to see the that the original control tower is still there. As of now, I’m not entirely sure when or if it will be demolished.
