The Story of Evolution | Experiments in Audio Visual Experience
Inspired by the Adriatique set for Cercle, I use found archival footage and imagery from popular culture such as 2001 space odyssey and Salvador Dali’s little known collaboration with Walt Disney - ‘Destino’, to explore a story that takes you on a journey from the dawn of human beings to the exploration of outer space.
I work with the live footage recorded on the French Alps as the base over which I layer my visual narrative. It begins with scenes of the Monolith from Stanley Kubrik's 'Space Odyssey' and moves through time using the rhythm and natural beats from the set as reference points to move in and out, and between scenes.
At first there are distinct separations between the live footage and my visual intervention, but as the set goes on and we get deeper into the story the two worlds start blurring and eventually merge into one multilayered experience. This process is intended as an experiment to explore storytelling through the landscape of an audio visual experience.

ABOUT REDIRECTING STUDIO
We are a creative studio always exploring and experimenting with new ways of storytelling. Electronic music has always been part of our music DNA and this has to be one of the best sets we have heard with Adriatique being able to take you on a journey through sound. While we have little knowledge about how they constructed this set, for us this felt like an epic story of evolution that we were compelled to tell.
