Happy World Plant Power Day! So much of my work involves using what I refer to as 'Power Plants.' Mainly, that's medical cannabinoids and other botanical prescribed combinations to help treat chronic illness and recover resilience. We actually evolved with these plants and systems like our Endocannabinoid System & others recognize these plant chemicals and can utilize them. Then there are the therapeutic psychedelic 'power plants' which are making a comeback into medicine due to their enormous potential for mental health and helping treat chronic pain conditions. I firmly believe 'power plants' are going to change medicine and create more effective treatments for so many people where other treatments have failed. In places where they are legal, they are often also used for personal development and burnout recovery. Many of my patients over the years have had their lives transformed by a power plant. Psilocybin is already being used in clinical practice in some places, although it's only available in a research study so far in the UK. Currently, in the UK with patients, we can use cannabinoids (medical can.) and ketamine, a man-made compound with some similar benefits to the plant therapeutic psychedelics and sometimes can combine these two therapies. That's the great thing about power plants in general, they can often be used alongside other treatments and in combinations to suit each unique individual person. They can also have a slightly different effect on different people and are truly personalized resilience medicines.
