Scientist and practitioner Anatoly Borisovich Vakhrameev visiting "Darya's Dvor."
Part 1

That's how the meeting ended.
I think it's no secret that the main problem with pedigree and amateur poultry farming is a catastrophic lack of information.
Today, science is completely geared toward industrial crossbreeding, broiler, and dominant poultry farming. Questions of standards, conformation, and, what's more, basic veterinary and zootechnical care are met with a wall of misunderstanding based on ignorance.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that the internet is flooded with very superficial, often unreliable, information, creating the illusion of completeness.
In this situation, professionals are desperately needed. You know, we have many pseudo-scientists, adorned with numerous regalia, academic degrees, and titles, but who are so far removed from the real problems of poultry farming that they don't even bother to hide it.
True, dedicated scientists who have left the quiet of their offices and gone out into the public eye are very, very few. Anatoly Borisovich Vakhrameev, a kind and compassionate man from St. Petersburg, is one of them.
Why do I say "dedicated"? Because a person who, not long ago, at great risk, traveled to dozens of villages in Dagestan and Chechnya to find, consolidate, and conduct a thorough scientific analysis of one of the oldest, indigenous breeds—if he isn't imbued with this passion, if he isn't completely dedicated to this cause—wouldn't agree to it for any amount of money, much less for free. And, of course, there's no doubt that this scientist, together with Dagestani enthusiasts, will definitely achieve official recognition of this unique breed.
Whether anyone likes it or not, not only the Gergebil, but also the Russian Crested, Black Bearded, Orlov, Pushkin, Leningrad Golden-Gray, Tsarskoye Selo, and many, many others—the entire treasure trove of domestic pedigree poultry farming—are all connected in one way or another with the name of A.B. Vakhrameev.
And this man, instead of puffing out his cheeks and doling out pseudo-valuable information bit by bit, helps dozens of people every day: with kind words, the only right advice, and a clear answer where others have long ago admitted their impotence. Many who are listening to me now understand what I'm talking about and will agree with me.
And all this, without regard for personal time or their main job, is completely free of charge. There's a long-held belief (and we ourselves have propagated it) that the Pavlovskaya breed was discovered by enthusiasts, selected, and then propagated through titanic efforts. But upon closer inspection, it turns out there's no reliable information, and most importantly, no evidence of the old Pavlovka supposedly being found "in a remote village," or "brought from Kazakhstan," or "from distant Siberia," and so on.
But what is absolutely true, absolutely true, is that the team of researchers at our VNIIRZHE spent many years gradually developing this breed and achieved a result, albeit very difficult, registering this breed, which is now found on many farms—from Kaliningrad to Nakhodka. So, one of the real, not mythical, creators of this new or newly recreated breed of our native Pavlovskaya chicken is Anatoly Borisovich Vakhrameev. Overall, we're very happy and proud that he took the time to look at our collection and gave us some very important recommendations. 😊
