Hello everyone, we are together again. Today I want to talk to you about impact factor in English. You know his videos about the H index. Let me add it here again. What is the H index? Was this of interest to academics? Impact factor, on the other hand, concerns journals. In other words, it is a scale that calculates an average of the citations to the articles published by an academic journal. The higher the impact factor, the more citations it received. Getting many citations indicates that the data in that journal is more reliable. Therefore, high-impact journals are seen as more important than low-impact journals. So what does the journal have to be for it to be an impact factor? First of all, he needs to enter SCI, and SCI in Science. The same should appear in social sciences, namely web of science. There are criteria for entering the SCI, which we call the Science citation index. I will explain these in another video, what are the criteria. If there are friends who are interested in the journal, journals that meet these criteria can be included in this index. However, the impact factor of every journal included in this index does not mean that it is very high. Journal with an impact factor of 0.5 can also be included in the index and you can write in Associate Professorship criteria. Journals with impact factors of 30, 50, 70 can also be included in the index. So they are in the index, but there is a quality difference between 70 and 0.5. Remember that 80% of journals have an impact value of less than 2. 20% have an effect value above 2. That's how I look too. Impact, that is, if the impact factor is 2 and above, I find it worth reading that journal, the articles published in that journal. The impact factor of a journal is determined by the average number of citations in 1 year to articles published in that journal in the last 2 years. For example, if a journal has 3 impact factors in 2008, it means that the articles published in 2006 and 2007 received an average of 3 citations in 2008. The formula is as follows, exactly as I'm giving, 2008 impact factor equals A divided by B, where A=the number of articles written in 2006 and 2007 cited by other journals during 2008. Where B = indicates the total number of articles that can be cited in articles published in 2006 and 2007. Since the calculation will be completed by the end of 2008, that is, the calculation does not end, so the 2008 impact factor is published in 2009. Therefore, when you look at the impact factor of this year, you will always see the factors of 2020. Because what is still happening in 2021? The Journal continues to receive citations. Yes, the impact factor is important. When sending your article to the journal, be sure to check the impact factors. Journals with impact factor are more reliable journals. Because the probability of it being a predatory journal is much lower, but I'm not saying it doesn't exist, it's low. Therefore, try to send your article to a journal with a high impact factor as much as possible, depending on its quality. When you are rejected, I recommend that you reduce it gradually, because the more high-impact factor journals you submit, the better quality work you will produce, and this will affect your H-index. I hope it was useful. I wish you all a good day. Oh, by the way, don't forget to like, there are some people who don't like. It sounds to me. Yes, best regards, see you soon.
