The Accelerating Medicines Partnership® (AMP®) program in schizophrenia (AMP SCZ): Overview & Vision
The Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) program is a public-private partnership between the National Institutes of Health, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Medicines Agency, and multiple public and private organizations. The overall aim of the new AMP Schizophrenia (AMP SCZ) initiative is to generate tools that will improve success in developing early-stage interventions for patients who are at risk of developing schizophrenia. Participants will complete an extensive battery of neuroimaging, EEG, cognitive, clinical, speech, genomic, blood-based, and functional assessments over a period of two years in order to detect diverse trajectories of risk and identify biomarkers predictive of the development of psychosis and other outcomes. Core components of AMP SCZ are a 42-site research network and a Data Processing, Analysis, and Coordinating Center to facilitate rapid availability of data to the scientific community via the NIMH Data Archive. This presentation will provide an overview of the specific goals of the project, the organizational structure, and methods to be used to achieve these goals.
