Bleeding Edge Web: Intro to React and Redux
Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past year, you've probably seen Facebook's React framework taking the JS world by storm recently. It's a really cool and different take on web application development, with interesting patterns that solve a lot of the historically tricky issues with building web UIs. Developer Matt Bow is going to introduce us to the basics of React, and dive into Redux, a popular implementation of Facebook's Flux architecture. If you've been hearing about React but not sure what the fuss is about, this one's for you!
Intro to React and Redux
A short intro to React and Flux, followed by an overview and demo of Redux, a third-party Flux-inspired framework. Topics will include:
• Brief intro to React (components, JSX, virtual dom, lifecycle methods)
• Flux (unidirectional flow, actions, dispatcher, stores)
• Redux (action creators, middleware, reducers, single-store)
• Advantages of Redux (server-side rendering w/ dehydration/rehydration, hot-reloadable, no more store-on-store deps)
• Comparison with other major Flux frameworks (Alt, Reflux, Fluxible, Fluxy, Nuclear)
• Live coding demo!
About the Speaker
Matt is a former SQL developer turned JS developer. He has built apps in Backbone, Meteor, and React. Currently he is developing a React app that chronicles the 2016 presidential candidates. Tweet him @DmtHigh.
