MOONLIGHT FOLKTALES STORY FOR A HAPPY NIGERIA INDEPENDENCE DAY
Under the shimmering moonlight of the animal kingdom, wise old Tortoise gathered the creatures for a story. With a twinkle in his eyes, he began, “Long ago, our beloved land, Nigeria, was ruled by a mighty Lion from faraway lands. For many years, the animals lived under Lion’s rule, but the day of freedom came near.”
The proud Eagle, representing the spirit of the people, soared high, crying out for liberty. The clever Monkey and hardworking Antelope teamed up, planning and striving for the day they could govern their own lives.
On October 1st, 1960, as the sun kissed the horizon, Nigeria, like the Eagle, spread its wings and gained its independence. The animals rejoiced, knowing they were no longer under Lion’s control.
But the story wasn’t over. Three years later, in 1963, Nigeria became a Republic. The wise Elephant, representing wisdom and strength, led the animals in establishing their own rules, making sure every voice was heard.
Tortoise finished, “Remember, just like our animal kingdom, Nigeria’s strength lies in unity. And so, under the watchful gaze of the moon, we celebrate this journey of freedom!” The animals cheered, hearts filled with pride and hope for their future.
