For their collaboration, Merrez Bal, Jojin Van Winkle & Tal Garmiza explored the shared experience of being in home spaces, and yet wanting to cross the invisible of space and time borders that separated them. The artists live an ocean apart from one another, in three different countries on three different continents, in three different time zones. They discovered early on that they share a love for poetry and writing.
When we are inward bound within our own four walls how can your imagination contribute to a creative process. How much can you learn about yourself with your own everyday items?
Centered in our homes, we are surrounded by all that is there. Things we own, things that aren’t ours, things that belong to our past and things that belong to our present.
Being in close proximity to objects forced the artists to look at them and confront them. They felt that paying attention to small things that we might normally pass by allowed them to examine their shared experiences before and during this global Lockdown.
