Roach Fishing with Jigs and Catch-up Lures.
I got a fishing trip I'd always dreamed of: roach on a jig. There's no fishing like this at Pines Bay this season (or at least not anymore), so... A friend took me out on a secret trip to a spot where he'd already caught a couple of great catches.
We arrived – my partner and I, along with three other people who clearly weren't interested in us, were at the location. You can wave your arms as much as you want – no one cares.
And what was even better – the fish were standing! More precisely, you could walk along a 20-by-20-meter patch. The school was small, but dense. In short, it was a blast...
It would have been, if not for the magnetic drilling, the phase of the moon, the roach, I don't know what, but they were biting so badly. I had to beg for every bite. I tried almost all my jigs. Even the blue one! I made three years ago and never tied it on. Today I caught 2 fish with it, out of 12. I even thought I'd found the key, but alas.
I saw one clear bite – a perch. And almost all the roach were caught during the pause. They're really sluggish today...
I'll probably call the video "1001 Jigs" because I really tried a lot of things today. But I caught the most with the catcher – 3.
So, here's what worked:
3 jigs – yellow and black catcher
2 jigs – black shrimp with a green neon ball
2 jigs – blue shrimp with a brass ball
1 jig – black shrimp with a yellow neon ball
1 jig – Big Ant with a yellow neon ball
1 jig – Small Ant with a white bead
1 roach and perch – Medium Drop with a white bead and green beads.
And I hooked another one on a 0.55g lead imp, but it came off after scraping the treble hook against the ice edge.
Well, it's clear that the fish had no preferences in shape, size, color, etc. today. Everything worked and was fine.
So I was caroling like that.
If only I could get there just once more and have a decent bite... oh, the dreams...
