Last spring, one of Central Synagogue’s “Prospects for Peace” programs featured the Israeli organization Women Wage Peace and the group’s founder, Vivian Silver. We were devastated to learn that Silver, previously presumed to have been held hostage in Gaza, was murdered in the massacre at Kibbutz Be’eri. As we mourn her senseless death, we remember her extraordinary life – a life shaped by hope, activism, compassion, and moral courage.
We pay tribute to Vivian Silver with an excerpt from her conversation with our community, in which she inspired us with her vision of a better world. May we honor her legacy by continuing to champion her dream of peace between Israelis and Palestinians. May her memory be a blessing.
