This week I'll show you how you can easily and completely securely access your Home Assistant instance from anywhere using the CloudFlare Community Add-on and a free first-level domain. This connection is also possible with a Carrier-Grade NAT (CG NAT). You can also use it with all voice assistants like Google Home or Alexa, and there are no other restrictions.

!! Attention !! Currently, it is not possible to register free domains with Freenom. There are no other free providers either. However, there are some providers that offer domains for only €1 in the first year. (Attention! Follow-up costs are usually higher, so after a year you'll need to move if you don't want to end up paying more than you would at Nabu Casa.) I can't tell you whether or when the free addresses on Freenom will be available again.
To register your site with Freenom, you must enter the complete address, including the domain extension after the dot, in the search field. Otherwise, the address will be displayed as unavailable when you click "Get." Unfortunately, the Freenom website has a bug.
