Covert narcissists are experts at manipulating their victims, using a tactic called "love bombing" to win their affection. Once they have gained your trust and adoration, they'll switch gears to "hoovering" - a tactic that involves trying to draw you back in if you attempt to leave. Here are some signs to look out for:
They'll start using guilt-trips to make you feel bad for leaving.
They'll make false promises, saying they've changed or that things will be different.
They'll use flattery and compliments to make you feel valued and important.
They'll try to isolate you from your support network and make you dependent on them.
Remember, hoovering is just another form of manipulation. Stay strong, trust your instincts, and don't let them lure you back into their toxic cycle.
