Acclaimed Israeli writer David Grossman comes to the Intelligence² stage to talk about his work and the broader political and cultural themes it has addressed. In conversation with author Linda Grant, he'll be discussing his latest novel To the End of the Land, the story of a family in love and crisis, which has been described as one of the great antiwar novels of our time. Other topics will be contemporary Israeli politics, the forthcoming UN vote on Palestinian statehood, the question of national narratives which oppose each other and the attempt to enter the mind of the Other. This may be necessary politically but is it possible in literature? Does the artist have any role in changing society? Does the artist have the right to stay silent? Why has Israel moved so decisively to the right in recent years? Where does Israel fit in the vast upheavals that are taking place in the Arab world?
