How to turn firewood into joinery boards, preparing the material.
Today, we'll be preparing lumber for future joinery.
We'll be using a variety of materials. We'll start with edged beech boards, then unedged oak boards. We'll also process some acacia stumps that have been lying around in the storage room, which we foolishly acquired, and finish with logs from the orchard pruning. We'll also be using cherry and pear wood.
We'll be processing the material to roughly the same level: planed, calibrated boards. We already have plans for manufacturing almost everything, so the length and thickness of the boards will be tailored to the project. That's why they won't be identical.
The purpose of this video is to evaluate the labor costs for processing, the price-to-finished-volume ratio, what's worth buying, and what's worth processing. Which material produces the least waste and is more cost-effective for production?
