Story facts about the ship:The Unity is an ancient yet powerful ship, and is clearly Guardian(alien race) in origin. The ship itself is supposedly designed for humans since the consoles and chairs are very similar to human ships, though one thing stands out, all systems and weapons are controlled from a central chair and the consoles are mainly used for guiding the humans around in the ship. With easily understandable guides on how to open the doors and what system is what the main character in the movie uses this to repair the Unity and fly it to earth.
Why the ship is named Unity? Only the captain and the ones who built the ship will understand. The ship choses a captain, and the captain will literally become the ship as long as he is placed in the captains chair.
Everything is controlled from there, and an invading force will stand no chance since they will need to kill the captain himself. And if that happens the person who did it will be blacklisted and the ship will go in lockdown mode. This means that you can't leave the ship unless you where to blast your way out through the hull meaning the end of the ship.
