How to reinforce facing masonry | Lifehacks
In this video, I will share a construction lifehack on how to effectively and economically reinforce facing masonry. This is useful for anyone who has a summer house or a country house, or is planning to build or rebuild a house.
Facing masonry is reinforced longitudinally and transversely using ties to the load-bearing wall.
There are usually two ways to make ties for everyone. This video will discuss them.
1. From galvanized steel strips.
2. Basalt ties
After watching this video, you will understand the pros and cons of both methods. And most importantly, you will understand that there is an alternative.
Using steel strips, you create a cold bridge, although you save on material. Using basalt ties, you eliminate the cold bridge, but are forced to spend more on material, which you also cannot buy at any construction base.
An alternative and a life hack is as follows.
To save money and at the same time not to use heat-conducting material, I suggest using fiberglass reinforcement to make a connection to the load-bearing wall. And also use it for longitudinal reinforcement of the cladding.
The advantages of my solution are obvious:
1. Fiberglass reinforcement has the lowest price.
2. Always available at any construction base
3. It does not create cold bridges
4. Longitudinal reinforcement is made in solid pieces
5. The material is not subject to corrosion
6. Simple and reliable
