Romance, Elfrida Andrée | Grade 5 - Emlyn, RCS Junior Conservatoire
Composer, conductor and organist Elfrida Andrée was a significant figure in the musical history of her native Sweden, becoming the first female
cathedral organist in Scandinavia when she took up that role at Gothenburg Cathedral in 1867. She was also the first Swedish woman to conduct
a symphony orchestra. The restless melody in this Romance is full of longing and invites a singing legato sound, exploring the timbre of the
instrument across its full range.
