iPhone XS Max Data Recovery After Main Power Line Short
This video documents an iPhone XS Max data recovery performed after the device stopped turning on due to a short circuit on the main power line.
The iPhone XS Max arrived completely unresponsive. Initial current testing showed abnormal power draw, indicating a short on the main power rail. Our engineers injected voltage using a DC power supply and confirmed the fault before removing the logic board from the chassis.
Because the failed component was located on an internal layer of the motherboard, the board was heated to approximately 250 degrees so it could be safely split. Freeze spray was used to locate the faulty capacitor near the main power IC. After the component was removed, a mounting jig was used to emulate the reattached board and confirm stable power.
Once the device powered on and touchscreen functionality was verified, a full data extraction was completed and the customer’s data was transferred to an external drive.
