In this video, we continue our series on playing over single chords. This time, we'll look at the dominant seventh chord. To be a dominant seventh chord, a musical element must have a major third and a minor seventh. Typically, the dominant seventh chord is used to add tension, meaning we can introduce more outline notes to increase that tension. For this to work, you must play strategically, using clear rhythmic phrases.
How to construct the Lydian dominant scale. Finally, a little trick I like to use is playing random figures on the fretboard to create tension over the dominant seventh chord.
