Is your OBD2 port not working for your emissions test? In my case, a simple $2 fuse replacement was all it took to fix the problem. I discovered this when my Yukon failed emissions because the OBD2 port wasn't responding.

Here's what I found: the OBD2 port shares the same 15-amp fuse as the cigarette lighters. When my scan tool wouldn't power on, I tracked it down to this simple fuse issue. Save yourself some time and money by checking your fuses first, especially that 15-amp cigarette lighter fuse, before assuming there's a bigger problem.

I checked wires, fuses that seemed to be connected with the engine computer modules, battery cables, etc., and in the end it WAS THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER FUSE. Yes, the OBD II port is powered by the same circuit as the CIGARETTE LIGHTERS. Save yourself a few hours and just go check that fuse first, thank me later. :)

This worked for me perfectly, and I went from failing the emissions test to passing it the very next day. The fix is super simple - just replace the blown fuse with a new one, and you're back in business. I hope this helps anyone facing the same issue with their vehicle's OBD2 port. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right one!
