Solar / NYC trio at Cleo's, ca 2014
This is an old footage of me playing Miles Davis' Solar at Cleopatra's Needle* in trio with Jesse Simpson on drums, who I miss since he left NYC. I used iZotope AI to make it sound a little better.
It dates back to around 2014.
Lots of fun exchanging ideas with Jesse, who sounds fantastic and supportive as usual, and even if sometimes we venture out in risky territory, I still believe this is nice after all those years. We are also making little imperfections and catching up with them as we play, which is actually somewhat enjoyable.
I remember I struggled a lot playing faster tempos back then. Looking back, this is around 280BPM for the quarter note, which is not really fast, but also it does not sound awful after all, and we are decently releaxed.
