Polishing a Samurai Sword
The polisher’s job is to help shape the forged sword into what the swordsmith envisioned as well as polish the blade. Often he hands the final delicate polishing to a second polisher. In all cases the polisher is under great pressure in case he makes a mistake - you can take steel off the blade but not add it. This video is the first stage of polishing and intermediate finishing. Our next video will show the final stage when the katana is brought to a dazzling beautiful work of art.
