This exhibit depicts Shoulder Dystocia which is one of the complications that can occur during delivery of a newborn. This occurs when an infant's shoulder gets trapped underneath the pubic symphysis. The delivery room doctor places the mother in the McRobert's position and applies suprapubic pressure in an attempt release the baby from the pubic symphysis. The corkscrew maneuver is attempted, an episiotomy is performed, and the corkscrew maneuver is attempted again. The posterior arm is delivered, relieving the shoulder dystocia and the infant is delivered.
