MYTHOLOGY DETAILS
Three Realms — The Celestial Realm/Heaven, the Mortal Realm and the Underworld/Hell.
Chiyou — A mythological being said to be the king of the Nine Li tribe, honoured and sometimes worshipped as the God of War.
The Nether King ('Dizang Wang') — A bodhisattva who in Chinese folk belief is regarded as the caretaker of the Underworld/Hell and all beings within its jurisdiction.
Judge Cui — Tasked with passing judgment on the souls of the dead.
Mistress Meng ('Meng Po') — The goddess of oblivion, she serves a special soup to each dead soul so that their memories in life can be wiped away, making them ready for reincarnation into their next lives.
Zhong Kui — A Daoist deity frequently regarded as the vanquisher of ghosts and evil beings.
Xingtian — In mythology, a deity said to have fought against Huangdi (the Yellow Emperor) for the position of supreme divinity. He was decapitated and defeated, but managed to regenerate himself and continue fighting without his head.
Nüwa — A mother goddess credited with creating humans and with patching up a hole in the sky.
