A Periscope is an optical instrument that uses a system of prisms, lenses or mirrors to reflect images through a tube. Light from a distant object strikes the top mirror and is then reflected at an angle of 90 degrees down the periscope tube.
Principle of the periscope. The periscope on the left uses mirrors whereas the right uses prisms.

In its simplest form, it consists of an outer case with mirrors at each end set parallel to each other at a 45 angle.
How to make a Periscope :
1. Find two small mirrors the same size.
2. Cut the tops off two clean milk cartons.
3. Tape the two cartons together.
4. Cut a hole on one side just big enough for a mirror.
5. Insert a mirror facing the hole at a 45 angle.
6. Cut a hole at the other end, facing the opposite direction.
7. Insert the second mirror facing the second hole.
8. Look into one hole and adjust.
9. Attach the mirrors permanently.
