Definitely my favourite amp. Relieved to find a recent problem was only a dodgy KT88. Thought I would make the most of the next door neighbour being out!!!!!!
First attempt at using Vegas - hence a bit of reverb added.
Guitar is a MIJ scalloped ST-72 with lace sensor pickups and Dawks MTC fitted. The latter gives a certain metallic presence and useable high end cut on the neck pup, although I have it turned so there isnt extra much bass on the neck pup here. The delay is from the Replex, should have turned it up. The best I have found without getting a real tape delay.
The Major is a very clean amp but with a wider frequency bandwidth than normal guitar amps and works great with pedal supplying the distortion for the tone. Because of this its great at any volume. Its on about 2 here which is about a fifth of the possible volume and loud without being too much to be in the same room. It has a very linear volume response so keeps getting louder all the way up with unbelievable headroom. Am using the Blackstar HT dual for distortion. I use this as a way of getting multiple channels with this and my Super Lead. I sometimes have the gain right down and use my BSM pedals for different types of gain. These are excellent for covering the various Blackmore eras. Will do another vid in the future to demonstrate these.
There are a few marshall major demos on Youtube but nothing demonstrating a Blackmore type tone so thought I might as well put one up!! I also recommend Riffguys vids - he manages to get a brown sound out of his as a result of his mods.
Just noodling around so excuse the bum notes!
