Learn how to measure the distance between two or more points in Google Maps to estimate travel length or calculate straight-line distance. This feature is useful for planning routes, estimating walking or driving distances, or simply checking how far apart locations are.
To begin, open Google Maps and long-press on your starting point until a red pin appears. Tap on the pin, then scroll down and select "Measure distance." A black circle with a dotted line will appear. Move the map to your desired second point and tap the blue “+” button or tap "Add point" to mark it. Google Maps will display the total distance between the selected points.
You can keep adding more points if needed to measure along a curved path or route. If you'd rather see estimated travel distance, simply use the "Directions" feature instead, which shows the distance along roads rather than a straight line.
