Where are we going, Germany? Things aren't looking good right now, according to the general perception. Digitalization is almost a foreign concept, and the economy isn't what it used to be either. The reasons are seemingly endless, but author Marcus Werner knows what's wrong in good old Germany – and tries to offer solutions.

Our civil servants like to fax – and doctor's offices like to print.
Out of nostalgia, we treat ourselves to two government offices – and a pharmacy every 200 meters.
We throw away tons of food – and take our bread with us on vacation.
We like to stand in front of closed shops on Sundays – and run in front like children when a new cash register opens during the week.
We're forbidden from dancing on Good Friday – and even pay church taxes for it.
We prefer dirty coins to card payments.
We're afraid of nuclear power, oil, fracking, biomass, hydropower, solar, wind – and vegan sausage.
And then we ask ourselves: Will this ever work out for us?
Television presenter, columnist, and author Marcus Werner says, "Yes, of course!" and looks at his country with the humor of despair, putting his finger on the wound – which is both painful and soothing, like the itch when the wound heals.
