Brian just finished up assembling and testing a low end CCD camera setup.
This was done using a small color bullet camera that use a 1/3 Sony Super HAD CCD and rated at .03 Lux, F2.0, 520 lines and runs on 12VDC. The camera body was a little smaller then 1.25 but a little duct tape and a 35mm film container seems to have resolved the issue.
We are also using an Elgato Video Capture device for the MacBook and I'm very surprised at the sharpness of the video. This is much better then a standard web camera. I removed the lens and am using the CCD directly off of the diagonal in place of the eye piece.
